Position: DB2 LUW Database Administrator Job Class: DB2 DBA
Location: Austin, TX Duration: 6 Months Rate: 50 Max *Required Skills:* DB2, Shell Script, XML, HP-UX *Job Description:* Client is currently in need of a DB2 LUW DBA to fulfill a 6 month contract opportunity in Austin, TX *Detailed Description of Daily Assignment: * The candidate will be responsible for the planning and execution of a number of tasks, which may run in parallel. These include the packaging of the DBI into opsware and deploying to the enterprise. Documention of the configuration of DBI production and defining standards and process for enabling and disabling the DBI monitoring functionality on a server. The clean up and standardizing of exiting DBA scripts then bundling them, along with new collection scripts, in to opsware and deploying to the enterprise. These same scripts must be ported from the primary AIX platform so they will run on HP/UX and Linux envrionments. *Detailed Description of needed deliverable: * Opsware packaging for DBI Products and DBA Scripts on AIX, HP/UX and Linux platforms. Documentation of configuration and usage of the DBI monitoring software and skills transfer to the database team, Required Skills: The candidate should have excellent DB2 LUW skills and be very proficient in shell scripting. *Preferred Skills: * A strong knowledge of OPSWARE packaging and distribution is an advantage. Familiarity with the Database Brothers Tools is beneficial. Understand of XML documents and format would also be advantageous. Years of experience: 5 years of DB2 LUW, 5 years of Shell scripting experience Soft Skills Needed: Excellent communication skills are required, as the candidate will need to work with multiple teams located in different geographies.
