Title: TECHNICAL WRITER Location: Raleigh, NC Duration: 3 Months The primary role of this position is to compose the text and layout for the printed product documentation and context-sensitive help. You will: Develop context-sensitive on-line help (F1) using RoboHelp Utilize existing templates to create HTML-based help files in CHM format and user's guides using MS Word, Distiller, and Acrobat to deliver in .PDF format Create annotated and non-annotated screens using screen capture and editing utilities Write with a consistent and simple style a large number of topics addressing different users with a variety of skill levels Communicate with and interview subject-matter experts, business analysts, developers, and QA staff to understand end-user needs Use consistent terminology to describe proprietary features Support other teams in their writing efforts by editing their work as requested (sales literature, marketing requirements, development specs, on-screen text and warnings, support faxes, surveys, newsletter articles, text for demo disks) Job Requirements: Must have 3-5 years technical writing experience 2-3 years RoboHelp experience Excellent proofreading skills Strong Microsoft Office skills Excellent communication skills Other technical tools/experience: Adobe Acrobat & Adobe Distiller; Screen capture and screen-editing utilities; Microsoft Visual Source Safe; HTML; Team Foundation Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
