Job Title: Data Modeler Location:Virginia, VA Duration: 12 months * *Overview: Under limited supervision; designs, develops, modifies and evaluates logical and physical data models and builds data migration strategies. Works with Business Analysts, System Analysts and Data Architects to translate the business requirements into models. * *Requires a solid understanding of the Managed Care HealthCare environment including but not limited to Claims processing, DRGs and HCPCS coding, Institutional and Professional billing, Eligibility, and Membership, preferably within the data warehouse space. * *Responsibilities: With limited supervision generates conceptual and logical models (staging and integrative) for the healthcare domain. With limited supervision, generates data profiles. With limited supervision, participates in Metadata gathering and modeling. With limited supervision, participates in ETL by definition of source and target mapping specifications. Education Required: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field. Equivalent experience is acceptable in lieu of a degree(s). Years and Type of Experience Required: Requires a minimum of 2 years of Managed Care domain experience. Requires a minimum of 5 years of Data Modeling experience. * *Specific Technical Skills Required: Strong Business Analysis and problem solving skills. Strong understanding of data integration concepts. Erwin Data Modeling Experience, 3rd, star schema, snow flake. Must have experience working with databases >4 terabytes. Understanding of multiple data architectures methods that can support a Data Warehouse. Experience in various data requirements elicitation, analysis and validation techniques Familiarity with data analysis artifacts and tools. Experience in designing enterprise level logical and physical data models that capture complex data relationships for data warehousing environments. Experience with logical multi-dimensional physical data models. Experience with T-SQL & PL/SQL Understands impact of data modeling decisions on system performance and resource usage. * *Other Required: Able to present information verbally, and in writing, in a concise and effective manner at all levels within the organization. Demonstrate ownership skills when handling internal or external customer concerns or issues. Able to develop creative solutions to problems. Demonstrates the ability to seek alternatives, new ideas, and/or approaches to problems. Able to demonstrate leadership in a team environment. Able to motivate others and provide innovative solutions for unit/team improvement. Demonstrates basic knowledge of specific components of managed care operations.
