My application superimposes a transparent GIF image on top of a background scene (JPG). My problem is that the anti-aliased portions of the GIF outline bleed through. If my background in Photoshop is red when I export the GIF with an alpha mask, then there are bits of red all around the edges, and this looks bad if the background scene isn't red. I need to be able to switch background scenes, so I need to blend! Obviously Photoshop does this blending better than my Java program, but Photoshop knows about the background its blending into. I'm merely relying on a transparency mask in the GIF, and letting the chips fall where they may. Does anyone know of a Java filter, algorigthm, or approach that take the mask from my GIF and use it blend the GIF into a background scene? My clients aren't privy to the wonders of pixel blockiness. They just want the printed photos to look wonderful. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
