Could THAT be what's causing my problems?!?!  My programs are HORRIBLY slow.  I
have almost given up on using Java3D, since I can write the same application in
any other API and it would run at least 10 times as fast!!

We had already upgraded to JDK 1.2.2 before I started using J3D, so I've never
seen what the performance is like in 1.2.1.  Is it possible that if I switch
back to 1.2.1, the performance will become reasonable?

I've been wondering for a while why the performance is so slow.  I mean, with
the number of messages on this mailing list, it's pretty obvious that a lot of
people are using J3D.  If the performance is really as bad as I'm getting, I
can't imagine anyone being able to use it for any legitimate application!!
