I wish! Here are the references I know
of, and partly use:
http://java.sun.com/products/java-media/3D/collateral/
has a tutorial (near the top, 8 chapters of .PDF) that I found
quite helpful.
http://www.sdsc.edu/~nadeau/Courses/Siggraph99/
is a downloadable set of about 800 lecture slides about Java
3D programming. Very understandable, though a bit
brief on detail. If I remember correctly, he doesn't
talk about the com.sun.util stuff, so he does everything the hard
way.
http://java.sun.com/products/java-media/3D/forDevelopers/j3dguide/j3dTOC.doc .html
is the Java 3D API specification. It's unfortunately mostly just a catalog
of stuff.
http://java.sun.com/products/java-media/3D/collateral/
(again) has some books near the bottom. From the looks of it, I'd
say that "Java 3D Programming" by Daniel Selman is
what we both need. Here's Manning Books' current info on
it:
November 2000, Softbound, 275
pages
ISBN
188477797X
Our price:
$39.95
You can order this book from
your bookstore
by using the ISBN and title listed above.
It says
November, so I guess the author is still bashing away at
it. Here's the Table of
Contents:
1.
Introduction
2. Should I Use Java
3D?
3. Building a 3D User
Interface
4. Deploying J3D Applications and
Applets
5. Defining a Scene Graph
Heirarchy
6. Defining the
Universe
7. Setting and Changing View
Direction Parameters
8. Generating
Geometry
9. Setting Geometry
Appearances
10. Manipulating
Geometry
11. Using
Behaviors
12. Sensor Input
Devices
13. J3D System
Architecture
14. Programming Resources
They also mention "3D User
Interfaces with Java 3D", available in ebook form (17
MB of .PDF) from Manning Books for less than $14. I decided
this couldn't hurt and bought it. The process was
easy and painless, but the book addresses some other
needs than mine and probably yours. I can relate details about
if if someone cares.
===================
If anyone has any other
references they can recommend, I would be interested to hear about
them.
