I had the same problem with installing Java3D 1.3Beta in Windows XP. The following is my solution. Java3D 1.3Beta installer try to find the folder of VM and JDK. But, don't trust the folder it found. Even though the folder which the installler found is correct, you have to browse and choose the folder which includes VM and JDK.
