A detailed design page and a draft charter to start a virtual reality
transfer protocol (vrtp) working group in the Web 3D Consortium is now
available at http://devo.stl.nps.navy.mil/~brutzman/vrtp/
vrtp is being developed to provide client, server, multicast streaming
and network-monitoring capabilities in support of internetworked
3D graphics and large-scale virtual environments (LSVEs).
Public comment is the first step to becoming a VRML working group,
as described on the Working Group Process page at
http://www.web3d.org/tech/process.html
I presume similar steps will be taken for Web3D working groups, but
the VRB and board of directors haven't really talked about this yet.
All comments are welcome! Thanks in advance for any feedback.
all the best, Don
