I just noticed that there is a link to a beta test application for HotSpot, at http://www.java.sun.com down the bottom of the page. Hotspot is supposed to increase the performance of Java in various ways, such as improved garbage collection. They are only accepting 300 people for the initial beta test. I would assume they will release latter versions to more people. You need to be an experienced beta tester, so it is not for most people.
