[apoliogies in advance if you receive duplicates. we want to give everyone every opportunity to help build Web3D, deliver the next-generation componentized XML-based specification, coordinate with other industry groups like ISO/W3C/MPEG4/IETF/AICI/blah blah, and build an open forum for multiple specs and techs that will continue to make ubiquitous 3D graphics a reality. if you're serious, please join us and get back to work. thanks for considering this challenge to contribute. all the best, Don]
Dear Web3D Consortium Colleague: This will update you on a schedule change for the Board of Directors and VRB/TRB election cycle. As noted in previous communications, the deadline for nominations for both bodies was announced as Monday February 8, 1999. In the last few days, however, we have been informed that, first, a number of companies are considering membership in the Web3D Consortium as a result of the expanded charter and activity we have outlined for 1999. These companies would like an opportunity to stand in the elections now taking place. Second, a number of existing members have requested an extension to complete the required paperwork. Accordingly, the Executive Committee today agreed to extend the nomination deadline for the Board and VRB/TRB by two weeks, to Feb. 22. This will allow prospective and existing members the additional time required to complete their candidacy. Membership remains a priority for us, and the extension will hopefully result in added members. The process will not change but the new dates are as follows: 1. Deadline for two written nominations is now 5:00 PM Pacific Time, Feb. 22 2. Ballot release is now Wednesday February 24. 3. Voting deadline in the ballot is now Wednesday March 24. 4. Election results will be announced Thursday March 25. 5. The new BoD, VRB/TRB will meet in conjunction with the Annual Meeting of Members, which has been scheduled for Friday March 26. Further details will be available shortly. The material on the web site will be changed to reflect these new dates. I hope this extension will give many of you the opportunity to participate in the elections.
