After an installation without any problems, on trying out the provided examples
I have encountered the following error:

Can't find class java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError. (Wrong class path?)

I use
Java 2 reference release
Java 3D 1.1
OpenGL 1.1.1
on Solaris 2.6

with system administration i went through a couple of possibilities but
everything seems to be set up correctly and we could find where the problems
lies.

interesting enough on execution of the "java" command the directory
/jdk1.2/jre/lib/ is accessed repeatedly and all the contained jar-files are
read. but the /jdk1.2/lib directory is neither accessed nor are the therein
contained jar-files read. this is especially disturbing as tools.jar would
contain the necessary java.lang class definitions.

Can anybody help?

Regards

Pamela
