I wouldn't expect ANY Java support from the mainstream browsers in the
future, much less Java3D.  Netscape fired their Java staff last year, and
who knows that Microsoft will ever do.  Develop all the Java you want, but
learn to live with the plugins until Microsoft breaks up.  Once M$ is gone,
maybe all the efforts to get computer manufacturers to include the JRE in
the boxes they ship will succeed.

It would be nice though, if someone would write an installer program that
sets up the JRE correctly, without the user having to tweak it themselves to
get it to run Java3D correctly.
