Nobody else seems to have mentioned it and assuming that it's
not some
perculiarity of my set-up (NT4, x86).....
I've just downloaded the early access realease of JDK1.2.2 for win95/NT and
on installing the plug-in I was happy to find that Java3D worked fine when put

on installing the plug-in I was happy to find that Java3D worked fine when put
in the obvious place, i.e. ....../JRE/1.2, without having to
mess around with
setting any environment variables.
It certainly will make it easier for people to do the necessary
installations to get 3D applets to work
