There is another way of looking at this. There are many Java 3D users
who already know graphics in general and Open GL specifically. If
every Java 3D book assumed the reader knew nothing about Open GL, then
the majority of the potential readers would not like the books.
In my opinion, you don't need to know a thing about Open GL to program
in Java 3D. However, knowing Open GL gives insight into Java 3D and
since Java 3D documentation is sparse in places, you should be happy
you can learn from the good Open GL books.
