Here is a description of how the SimpleUniverse program intends them
to be used:

The Viewer avatar represents the viewer in a world. In a multiuser
application each person using the app would most likely have their
own view. As the viewer moves to different ViewPlatform objects,
the Viewer avatar moves with them. Most likely this geometry would be
seen by other viewers but not be seen in the person's own view.

The PlatformGeometry represents geometry visible on a particular
ViewPlatform object. This geometry could represent something like
a car dashboard. So when a viewer jumps onto this ViewPlatform the
dashboard appears on their screen.
