Crested Butte is a great little town and I understand why Bruce lives there year round.
There are a couple of options for accommodation at the Roundup. There are a number of small hotel/inns. I know a number of previous attendees have stayed at Elk Mountain Lodge http://www.elkmountainlodge.com/ and have had good things to say about it. Two years ago I stayed at Cristiana Guesthaus. http://cristianaguesthaus.com/. It was fine. Breakfast (typical North American B&B type fair) was included along with fresh cookies out of the oven at the end of the ski day (yum). http://www.visitcrestedbutte.com is a good source for the hotel/inn options. Last year four of us rented a house. I'll likely do this again this year. It was great just to hang out with other Possieites and talk shop, eat, ski etc. Meals were eaten out at one of the restaurants. I think there were two/three/four other groups that rented houses last year. They tend to be self organizing groups and like the open spaces concept exactly the right group ends up together. :) You don't need a car once you're in Crested Butte. Everything is within walking distance and there is a free Bus that heads to the ski hill every 15-20 minutes or so if I recall. Skiing was great two years ago. I missed out last year due to a spill I took before the trip. I was surprised by the number of folks that came from "far and away". There were a number of guys from Europe, Sweden, Israel, Australia and me from Canada :) Hopefully that will be the case again this year. It would be great if you could make it! In Europe, I am used to staying in Ski Chalets (France, Austria) where you share a house with a chalet host full board (breakfast and dinner, coffee, tea cakes for 6 nights all inclusive ). I did Austria last year with hotel (half board, alcohol to paid on the final bill). All my trips where package ski holiday deals (flight and hotel).
