At the end of the Java One event (which aired as episode #324) he stated: "It's really important to enjoy your job. Make sure that you work to live, not live to work. Talk to your employer, make sure you can work from home if that's what you want to do, and make sure you surround yourself with people who are smarter than yourself." That episode went up on Wednesday, September 22nd. On Thursday, he announced that his Blog moved to Blogger ("I'm not sure how long blogs.sun.com will be around") and on Friday he left Oracle... That was fast!
I'm curious for his reasons to leave, though -- did Oracle not allow him to work from home anymore or were there not enough smart people left to surround him? ;-) Was it the cancellation of FX Script? Did they make him use Eclipse? On Windows? Or even: Tabs in source code? Sadly, we'll probably never know. Anyway: Congratulations to Tor, I wish him all the best and good luck for his next steps! -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "The Java Posse" group.
