It's a subtleness that I don't like. I'm too disturbed to hear this term abused in politics when one party just wins something remaining within the rules and the other accuses it of discarding democracy, etc. I don't know how often this happens in your countries, but in mine it's a weekly matter. I prefer to not abuse words, and coup d'čtat to me still means violence and subversion of the rules.

The Hudson / Jenkins stuff just looks like a fork to me, in one of the "manual" cases in which one wants to fork.
