it requires XCode for Interface Builder. Probably the biggest reason I like AppCode better than XCode, is I can now use the same editor/UX/Keybindings across Java (IntelliJ), Ruby (Ruby Mine), and now Objective C (AppCode). I'm sure they will charge for it - Ruby Mine is $69 so I would imagine it will be in that range.
Once you learn the IntelliJ editor, the key bindings and all the features, it is unmatched IMO. Over the past year, I was forced to use Eclipse and assumed I'd adapt and learn to like it. I was wrong. Once I moved on to another project that didn't require Eclipse - first thing I did was buy the latest IJ.
