Try using the domain=<domainname> option and provide your
domain username and password.
jdbc:jtds:sqlserver://
<servername>;instance=<instancename>;domain=<domainname>

Setup server authentication if your domain password changes
frequently.

Other thoughts

Are you using the latest jTDS driver?
1.2.4 - although all versions have worked in my experience

Do you use more than one SQL server instance?
jdbc:jtds:sqlserver://<servername>;instance=<instancename>
