JoAnne, I don't believe this is a new practice. I got mine yesterday as well. This is the same way it happened to me once I received JAWS 6. You don't have to upgrade now, but you do save your self $60 I believe. I'm fortunate that my company pays it but if you are paying out of pocket I do see your point.
