Hi Rick,
What truly is frustrating is that I am a fanatic on updates and
maintenance. My problem with jaws with the high pitched low volume is only
after some internet browsing. My wife goes to one site to play a few games
but this normally does not impact jaws. I routinely run adaware and spybot I
have spyblocker running in the background. When this problem happens it is
nearly impossible to hear jaws. Thanks for the tip about narrator I hadn't
thought about it. Today when it happened I had a very important email to
send, the computer almost went out the 2nd floor window.
There must be some way to prevent the problem. About 2 weeks ago I thought
it was a fluke. Today disproved that hypothesis.
I will probably fire off an email to FS support to see if that they
encountered the problem with someone else.
My wife won't be happy but I think I will ask her to launch jaws after ever
two or three sites that she visits. Maybe if the site can be narrowed down I
may have a chance of preventing.
Give me my old Burroughs 6900 or IBM 3090!
Lenny

Hi Lenny,
Start with the basics, if Jaws or narrator will talk.
Download all updates for your security software, and windows, then run
complete maintenance, includeing all security scans.

Computer possessed, oh how I hate PCs. They should be used as doorstops,
give me back my big old mainframes.

This morning I did some maintenance on my second hd. When I started the
defrag jaws could not talk. It sounded like a lot of static or a radio
totally off frequency. Now something again got into my system. My wife was
surfing nothing appeared to be wrong until I started jaws. Jaws just had a
very tinny very soft voice out of one speaker. The highest that I could get
the volume was an estimated 3%.

I struggled through regcleaner which did not fix the system. Then started
spybot. About halfway through that process jaws started talking normally.

Now my big question is how can I stop this. This is the 2nd time in a few
weeks that jaws could not talk because of some adware or something?
