When JAWS5 is loaded, and the desktop icon has focus, create the hotkey for it by entering the properties dialogue with alt-enter. You're in the shortcut tab control of a multi-page dialogue box. Now, tab over to where JAWS says, "Shortcut: Hot Key, Edit... None" and there type with a key that is not used as a shortcut by any other program. (If you type j, the keyboard shortcut to open JAWS5 from anywhere on your computer, will then be ctrl-alt-j.) Enter on ok when done.
