Chris, Feel free to email me off the list with an example of a mail message that gives you trouble. Send it to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] I guess the first thing I would try is to turn off Table Processing in the INSERT V, Adjust JAWS Options dialog. Did you try this? Regards, Eric

Eric-- I continue to be frustrated by Jaws 8.0 (plus updates) and the Jaws 9 Beta's inability to read many e-mails in Outlook 2007. This appears to be primarily a problem for html e-mails in table format. Jaws reads the table row and column numbers but not the text; sometimes it will read the standard "boilerplate" regarding how to request removal from a list but not the substantive content. Also, I find that Jaws 9 does not read even the table format information in "say all" mode. On my laptop. I am hoping these problems can be addressed as they were not probles in Jaws 7.1. Thank you.Chris Bell -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Eric Damery Sent: Friday, October 05, 2007 4:24 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: [JAWS-Users] Correction FW: JAWSBeta JAWS 9.0.356 Private Beta is available! Well, I guess I blew this one. It has been a long week. This message was sent in error to the JAWS users list instead of the Freedom Scientific Private Beta List. I apologize. Please disregard and do not ask about the where the file is now or how to get this update, we have removed them from these locations. We will be getting a new public beta update out once we complete work and testing on the next round of fixes over the next 10 days. Regards, Eric Damery ________________________________ From: Eric Damery Sent: Friday, October 05, 2007 5:01 PM To: 'jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com' Cc: JAWSIntlBeta Subject: JAWSBeta JAWS 9.0.356 Private Beta is available! Hello Private Beta Testers, JAWS Private Beta Build 9.0.356 is ready for testing. This one includes quite a bit of change since the 353 build because we have been fixing items that were held out of the public beta builds as we attempted to stabilize it as best we could. The next update we do for the public will be in about 10 days or so I hope. Your attention to this list of fixes is greatly appreciated. The Known issues is empty today. Rosemary and Stephen are both off sipping Margaritas somewhere so we are not as professional in the write up as we'd like to be. Special note: The Red Sox are going for game two tonight at 8:30 ET and the Yankees will be going for their second loss on Saturday! Regards, Eric JAWS Private Beta Build 9.0.356 is ready for testing. JAWS 9.0 Update An update is provided for your convenience as well as to continue with some level of testing of the update process during the beta cycle. Not all builds provided during the beta cycle will have the update option. As the product progresses, some builds will be new BASE BUILDS upon which subsequent updates can be installed. The Automatic Update will update to JAWS 9.0.356 from the following prior builds: * 9.0.353 Base Build or Update. * 9.0.348 Base Build. Attempts to update to 9.0.356 from any build other than what is listed will fail by design. If in doubt or you have trouble, simply use the full install instead. Updates are not yet available for Windows Vista, and are not available for Windows 2000; you need to download and install the full version. * Update Patch: 1. Please enter 90909 into the special code dialog in the JAWS about box dialog. Go to the Help Menu, About. TAB to the special access code button and press ENTER. Type or paste 90909 into the edit field. 2. Select check for updates on the JAWS UI help menu. You will find today's 9.0.356 in the list box. 3. TAB to your choice and proceed with installation. * Update Tip: How do you check to see if a listed update will update my installed version of JAWS? If you navigate the list of updates and highlight one of the listed updates you can TAB to the detail button and press spacebar to get a list of the versions of JAWS which can be updated by that particular update. * If the Update fails: Either Repair or install the full build, if available: Check out the FAQ: How do I perform Installation Maintenance procedures like Repair and Modify? <http://www.freedomscientific.com/fs_support/BulletinView.cfm?QC=1057> NOTES * JAWS 9.0 beta will expire December 1, 2007. * For those who are testing the Outlook Calendar work: to test the calendar, you need to disable the Task List option in View, To Do, menu. ALT+V to drop the View menu, then select the To Do Bar sub menu, then uncheck the Task List option. * MAGic and JAWS private beta testers: We are working on testing a combination here in-house, and on getting you a new MAGic 11 Public beta candidate, that will function with the JAWS public beta. While you are free to install both JAWS 9.0 beta and MAGic 11 private beta together, we still don't recommend attempting to run them together * JAWS 9.0 will be a paid upgrade, requiring authorization for JAWS 9.0. The flag is not set yet; 8.0 authorization will enable you to run JAWS 9.0 beta. * Please review the Known Problems section and refrain from posting reports on those defects listed. * Please save these announcements during the cycle for reference or to help answer questions; each list of new features and fixes is unique to each build you'll receive. * This is a beta product; it is prerelease quality. It is recommended that you back up your system prior to installing 9.0. * If you install JAWS 9.0 on a system with JAWS 8.0, JAWS 8.0 will use the 9.0 shared components. * The Private Beta Handbook <ftp://ftp.freedomscientific.com/users/hj/private/beta/PrivateBetaHandbook.h tm> is available as a separate web page for reference. NEW FEATURES and CHANGES * 33586 Change in output message when No window is active. * 33880 We have now added a link to the Adjust JAWS Options dialog JAWSKey+v to the JAWSKey+F2 Run JAWS Manager to make it easier for new users to find the options. * 34126 Extra Help Indication option is now called F1 formfield help indication as in prior versions of JAWS. JAWS 9.0 Preparation and installation steps 1. Download the JAWS 9.0 package. 2. Copy the downloaded file to a place you can easily get to; we recommend you create a folder just for the JAWS installation package. 3. Uninstall the prior 9.0 private beta, choose Remove Shared Components. Reboot. 4. Speech will not be available until the next install, so if needed, launch narrator using WINDOWS Key+U. 5. In order to get the full benefit of recent script changes, development suggests that you go to your user settings folder and delete any setting which is one which ships with JAWS. This includes their default.* settings and especially any Office and Outlook settings. 6. Find the downloaded copy of today's installer package. Exit Narrator, if you it running, and immediately start today's installer. 7. Once you finish the installation, a reboot is required. 8. Go to C:\Program Files\Freedom Scientific\Shared\FsTxtSvc\1.0 and double check that the "fstxtsvc.dll" file is gone. If not, delete it. Removing it resolves an issue in Office XP. NOTES: * You do not need to uninstall your previously installed shipping JAWS 7.x or 8.x prior to installing JAWS 9.0. * JAWS 9.0 will install into the "\Program Files\FreedomScientific\JAWS\9.0" folder structure and has its own registry entry that differs from older versions. The JAWS 9.0 shared settings are stored in: "\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Freedom Scientific\JAWS\9.0" folder and user settings are stored in:"\Documents and Settings\YourUserName\Application Data\Freedom Scientific\JAWS\9.0" folder. TIPS and Troubleshooting Uninstallation and Installation * Install and uninstall with an account which has administrative rights. * If something goes wrong during the install or if you exit the installer, reboot prior to attempting to run the installer again. * If you are uninstalling a previous JAWS build, you should first reboot prior to running the installer if more than 40 minutes has elapsed since the last time the system was booted or the runtime may be timed out. * If after installation you find that your firewall is blocking JAWS from running, you may need to reboot and hold down the JAWSKey while starting JAWS to force JAWS to run in 40 minute mode. Then add the jfw.exe to your firewall's list of allowed applications. * Confirm whether the download was complete by using a free program like FileAlyzer to check the MD5SUM. If you don't already have such a utility, try http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html <http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html> . * If having problems no-one else can reproduce, cleaning your TEMP directory after uninstalling the last beta and installing the current one can be of benefit. Go to c:\Documents and Settings\Username\LocalSettings\temp. Username is whatever the login or account you are using. * If having problems no-one else can reproduce, cleaning your TEMP directory after uninstalling the last beta and installing the current one can be of benefit. As a Beta Tester it is helpful if you delete your user setting for a new beta build of JAWS during a cycle so that not only do you get the benefit of our fixes to the settings contained in that new build but so that you are exercising the JAWS features for creating those changes that you make to JAWS. You don't have to necessarily delete all your user settings but unless you delete at least those files in your user settings folder which have names which correspond to files in the JAWS shared settings folder then you may not get the benefits of scripting fixes because any user file overrides a shared file. The FSDOM, Braille component files, and DCM JAWSVID make up what is known as the FSSDK package; all these files should have the same version number. We provide the file version number as a way to double-check that the installation was correct. Having file versions that do not match could explain irregular behavior with the product. To find files after installation, you can do the following: * The JAWSVID version can be seen by going to Video Intercept Manager via the JAWS Utilities Menu. It can also be check via the Display Chaining Manager from the Start, Programs, JAWS 8.0, Tools menu. Both sources of the information should always match! * The FSDom files can be checked by going to \Program Files\Freedom Scientific\Shared\FSDomSrv\10.12. Press the right-context menu key on any of the FSDom*.dll files and choose Properties, then CTRL+TAB to the version page. * The braille components can be checked by going to \Program Files\Freedom Scientific\Shared\Braille\10.12. Press the right-context menu key on any of the Braille*DLL files and choose Properties, then CTRL+TAB to the version page. * Note: If you are also testing MAGic 10.5 beta, be aware that the FSSDK files are shared; the newer FSSDK version (higher number) will take precedence. This means if you have both JAWS and MAGic betas installed, (i.e. JAWS with FSSDK 10.14.223 and MAGic with FSSDK 10.14.222), the higher 10.14.233 files should be the ones used in both until a higher version is installed. This is regardless of installation order. ________________________________ It is suggested you save these official announcements for reference during this active beta cycle.
