Yes I can of course, but the fact is if you don't know what such a thing is then most likely you'll never use one. Basically some people who work in offices can set their systems to reply to any and all email messages with a standard response for example I'll be out of the office for the following days. This isn't good to send such automatic messages to a mailing list because it would be never ending. Besides it makes list owners very angry as you can imagine cluttering up the list with garbage to say the least.
