I work for a company that has 20 JAWS network license keys using 7.1.
Increasingly, I have a need to use a newer version of jaws at my
office. When I requested that the non-standard software team upgrade
the JAWS version to current specs they wanted my department to pay the
upgrade costs. This seems inappropriate as I am the only user in my
department that uses jaws, and my department has already paid to upgrade
the V7 license from 15 to 20 users so that I could use version 7.

I want to know how other large companies handle maintenance expenses on
their jaws systems. Does each department pay the way for their users, or
should HR or Information Technology pay to keep these tools up to date.

Also, what words and or references within the ADA do I need to site in
order for my company to do the right thing?

If there is a large response I will post a summary to the JAWS-users
list on the assumption that this is of interest to a large number of
users.

Thanks,

Jonathan Cohn
