Hello ericka. Here's what I've done to make yahoo
messenger work with jaws
eight. First, go to www.jaws-users.com and download
the yahoo scripts from
the scripts page. Then, go to your jaws shared
settings folder by going to
the start menu, programs, jaws eight, explore jaws,
and explore shared
settings. Then, delete the old yahoo scripts that are
already there. Once
they are all deleted, paste in the new scripts you got
from the jaws users
page. Once that's done, open up yahoo messenger. Once
your main contact
window is open, press insert q twice quickly. this
will put the
configuration information in the virtual viewer. Arrow
down until you find
configuration name, and copy the name to the
clipboard. the name should be
Yahoo Instant Messenger Main. Once that's done, go
back to your shared
folder, and rename all the new yahoo script files with
this name, but don't
change the extensions, however. When you've finished
with that, restart
yahoo messenger and it should work fine. Hope this was
helpful.

I just wanted to extend a welcome to the new subscribers we've picked up here
lately. There have been a number of folks coming and going recently. As a
result there are several very new members to my not so little list. We're still
sitting at 372 for a pretty respectable total.

I'm finding I get a 3 to 5 second delay between pressing the spacebar to
go to the next bullet point or slide, and JAWS vocalising it. The text
appears on screen immediately, it's JAWS that is delayed in saying it.
Has anyone come across this, and know of a way to improve it apart from
using an earlier version of JAWS or taking out the animation, neither of
which are options I can consider? Ta,

Steve

Hello listers,

I have my new pc now. I have some problems with jaws 8.0.2173. When it
starts automatically with windows everything is ok, but when I switch to
another jaws version and come back to 8, when I start it I hear this
dingging sound that repeats itself continually until I unload and reload
jaws. Also I hear the same sound when I'm in some programs and go to top or
bottom of a window. I followed the instructions regarding this problem
posted on David's site, but still I hear this thing. Do you have other
ideas?
Thanks in advance,
Negoslav

I attached four documents in Eudora and tried to use control-shift-h
to read the their names, just to be sure they were there. JAWS9
didn't acknowledge that there was a script, let alone reading the
information. I could read them with the JAWS cursor, but of course I
would rather have it the way it used to be. Sigh ...

Subject: [JAWS-Users] question about a keystroke
To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com
Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1

Hello all. I have a question about changing a keystroke, if possible. In jaws
seven, the keystroke for announcing the last person to sign into yahoo
messenger, aim messenger, and msn messenger was alt shift f10, f11, and f12,
respectively. In jaws eight, this keystroke is control scroll lock f10, f11, or
f12, respectively. I'd like to know how to change the new keystrokes back to
the old ones, if possible. The reason is that I'm using a laptop with a
function key that you have to press with numlock and any of the three keys to
get the last announcement info. For example, if I wanted to find out who last
signed into msn, I'd have to press control, function scroll lock and f12.
However, when I do this, my laptop goes into standby mode, due to the fact that
function f12 is the hotkey for standby mode. So this is why I'd like to see if
I can change the keystrokes back to their old values, or if anyone could tell
me how to disable the function f12 hotkey. Either would work. Any
help is appreciated. thanks.
