Bring up the Start Menu and go to Settings.  Then select Control Panel and
from there select Folder Options.  Once in this dialog box go to the View"
page and in the selection tree find the entry that states something akin to
"Hide Known File Extensions" and make certain that is not checked.  Then hit
the OK button in that page and you should be "seeing" the file extensions
once again.
