Hi Flor,

Thank you for the clarification. Yes, I have tried that many times to no
avail. I don't know why it won't accept this hot key but as long as it's
not a software problem I'm fine with it. Thanks again.

Mike

By "MS Word shortcut dialogue" I meant when going into the Properties,
shortcut tab, of your desktop icon for Microsoft word.

Hi Flor,

I am not sure what you mean by MS Word shortcut dialogue so I didn't try
that. I did backspace everything out of the shortcut field in properties
before
reassigning alt, control, w key there. I tried Narrator to no avail either.
There is no dong when I try the alt, control, w keystroke. I also
downloaded the Hot Key Detective and it only shows the hot keys that
I have created. The weird thing is that the alt, control, w shortcut key
worked on this new computer for a few days and then all of a sudden just
stopped working. I am fine with using the control, shift, w keystroke. I
just wanted to make sure that there are not any problems with this new
computer. Thanks for all of your help.

Mike

Have you tried re-assigning the alt-ctrl-w hot key in the MS Word shortcut
dialogue? (Or changing/deleting the ctrl-shift-w shortcut key beforehand?)
If your shortcut key isn't accepted, try using narrator during the process.
(It just could be that JAWS isn't allowing you to make it. However, it
could also be that your Windows won't allow ctrl-alt-w to be used on your
new computer. Do you get a dong when you try to make your shortcut
ctrl-alt-w? If you do, then you may just have to accept ctrl-shift-w.)
Another option might be to install Hot Key Detective, which is a program
that detects all the keyboard shortcuts on your computer. It is available
on the jaws-users programs page.

Hi Flor,

No Flor, I didn't install Word Web but, I did have it installed on my old
computer and uninstalled it. I don't have it installed on this new computer
although I did reinstall the same Operating System and Office software. It
does seem like this shortcut problem started after the original installation
of Word Web the first time . I thought by uninstalling Word Web that would
take care of the problem but apparently not and if that is the problem, how
could I correct it. Thanks much.

Mike

WordWeb by default uses the keyboard shortcut alt-ctrl-w to launch. It will
do this unless you change it during installation. Did you install WordWeb?

Hi Sharon,

Yes Sharon, I resett it to control, shift, plus w in Microsoft Word
properties by pressing alt plus enter on the MS Word Icon on the desktop.

I have also had this happen for odd reasons. Can you set the shortcut up
again?
Sharon

Hi Everyone & Happy Easter,

I have always used alt, control, plus w for a shortcut keystroke for
Microsoft Word and now that keystroke combination doesn't work. I am now
using control, shift, plus w for a shortcut keystroke. Can anyone tell me
why the former keystroke just quit working. I am running XP and Office 2002
Home and Jaws 9.0.552. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you
very much.
