Hi Jerry, While performing the "Alt+Tab keystroke, are you holding the Alt key down while tabbing through all open windows? If you press Alt+Tab and then just let go, the default is to cycle between the last 2 windows accessed; you must continue to hold down the Alt key while pressing the Tab key and only when the desired application has focus do you let go of the Alt key. If you have been using this keystroke as described above, I would be curious as to the cause of the problem.
