Another work around, is to check the heading of each section. This will cause all of the checkboxes to be checked, so that when you come across them as you go through each of the items, the item will be checked by default, so all you have to do is uncheck them.

I should also note that this method also forces the checkboxes to show, so no having to worry about the checkboxes being invisible anymore.

Hope this helps.

Hi Adrian,

Go into the ENU folder of the Jaws version veing used, & remove this file:

CCleaner64.JCF

This will undo that checkbox crap, but don't delete it, just cut it out, &
put it somewhere you can access it in case you want to put it back. This
file doesn't contain any of your CCleaner settings, these settings are in
the, .INI, file in Program Files.
Take care.

I appreciate the thought. However, I just followed these steps, and the
result is a much worse problem. Now, when I arrow up or down the list of
items to check or uncheck, only one item is verbalized at a time. I have to
arrow down, tab once, shift-tab back to the list to hear the next item.
Moreover, I can't change the status of any checkbox.

I tried to undo this operation by deleting the new window class, but it
hasn't changed the behavior. I also uninstalled and reinstalled CCleaner,
but the behavior stays the same.

Any suggestions for how I can undo the impact of this operation?

The moral of this tale: When you don't really know what you're doing, even
if the steps are explained clearly, don't mess with it!!

Hi.
A while back, someone on the jfw email list posted a way to make jaws
announce the state of check boxes in CCleaner.

I post the message below.

From: Dennis L
Hi, if you want jaws to read the status of the buttons in Tools, Options, &
Settings do the following.
1. Find an option you know the status of.
2. Press, Insert + 7, on the number row above the main keyboard.
It will say add configuration file. The name
should say Ccleaner64 press enter
Then it will say edit button.
Tab once arrow down to check box.
Tab to add class button press space bar. Then to ok.
NOTE THIS HAS ONLY BEEN TESTED WITH CCleaner!

Hi Adrian,

Good point! Since I remove everything I just select all & run it, but I've
go through the options about once a month to make sure that nothing has
changed because of a CCleaner update or whatever the hell else can happen
with computers. LOL Jaws not announcing the state of thecheckboxes is a
pain, so it's very important to listen carefully when pressing the spacebar
on the checkboxes so you know if you're checking or unchecking something.
Take care.

Mike,

I find that list box useful. There are some types of data I want to retain,
such as passwords. I go down the list item by item to make sure anything I
want to preserve won't be deleted. Unfortunately, at least on my system,
JAWS doesn’t verbalize whether an item is checked or not until I press the
spacebar. After that, the checked/unchecked status of that item will be
shown throughout that session. However, JAWS still fails to verbalize this
detail for the other items until I go through the same process item by item.

The reason it would be useful for JAWS to verbalize the status of each item
in the list is that CCleaner doesn't check everything by default. For
example, the default for passwords is unchecked. So, chances are when
CCleaner runs, it won't delete items you want to keep. But you never know.
I'd discourage anyone from running the clean function until they've gone
through that list and made sure only items they want removed are checked.

Hi Mike,

No, there isn't. The only thing that is different is that after analyzing
you know what you're going to delete when you press, Alt + R. Actually if
you just press, Alt + R, & run CCleaner you can shift + tab & see what was
deleted. Since this does happen I always run CCleaner twice so nothing
shows in that list box.
Take care.

Hi

When using cCleaner to delete files, is there any difference in the result
if you just use run cleaner alt+r, as opposed to first running analyze alt+a
followed by run cleaner alt+r?

Hi Jerry,

Once you press, Alt + R, to start a scan, after it's finished if youpress,
Shift + Tab, 2 times you should be in a list of items that have been
removed, or are waiting to be selected to be removed. If you run the
Analyze option press, Control + A, to slect all, then Alt + R, to run
CCleaner & remove.
Take care.

To All JFW Users:

I just downloaded the C Cleaner ap, thanks to the knowledgeable JFW users’
assistance. I ran the scan on it, and I was wanting to know how to find out
the results of this scan. I tried using the JAWS cursor, to no avail. I
probably missed something in it. Thanks in advance for any help.
