The following commands will shutdown and reboot your system:

shutdown -s -f -t 00

shutdown -r -f -t 00

Note: the notation of 00 means the system will perform the task right away.
So say you wanted it to shutdown in an hour, then change the number to 3600.

Also note, any time more than 00 you do not need to include the -f switch
because it is assumed at that point.

I always create such icons on any system I work on, no matter if it is mine
or not. It is just something to make life a little easier.

I very seldom use my hp laptop. I am using a wireless full size keyboard,
latest jaws 18, win 10. It looks like the only way that I can shut down the
laptop is with the power button. I thought in the past that alt f4 on the
desktop would reveal those options. I tried using the down or up arrow in
the running apps and also on the desktop.
Any help appreciated.
