I am getting into this thread late. But, I think editing the normal template might be the answer, but it has been so long since I did this that I don't really remember how to do it. There may be someone else on the list who can remember how to do this under Win 10. Sorry! -----Original Message----- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Adrian Spratt Sent: Thursday, June 1, 2017 11:44 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Making Word 2010 default line saving to single Hi, Ed. Remember, in my case my default is double-space. And yes, every time I open word, the document is double-spaced. I know you want every document to open with single-spacing, and I'm racking my brains to think why your Word default is acting differently from mine. I hate to suggest a repair, but did the MS people suggest doing an MS Office repair? It's simple to do and doesn't take terribly long. If this interests you, post again and I'll gladly give you the steps. -----Original Message----- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Mr. Ed Sent: Thursday, June 01, 2017 7:11 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Making Word 2010 default line saving to single Hi Adrian, Yes I have just selected single line and press the ok button. When I have done this it still types in double line spacing even though it says single in the space box. I have two W10 computers running Word 2010 and they both do the exact same thing. The only way I can get it to single line space is to put the number 1 in the at box right after you tab from single then I have to put a check mark in where is says, Don't add space between paragraphs of the same style check box. Then I can press ok then it will type in single line spacing. Then if I close word and re-open Word then it will type in double line spacing even though it shows single line spacing in the paragraph dialog box. I had the Microsoft Disability line work on it and they could not get it to stay on single line spacing. So let me ask you one question. When you are using your word and you first open it up does it type in single space or double space? In your first set of steps, you don't mention pressing Okay. Did you? Your second set of steps, based on my experience, shouldn't be necessary and may be creating a problem. Going back to your first set of steps, when you select single space, don't press enter. Just leave it selected, then tab to Okay and press spacebar/enter. -----Original Message----- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Mr. Ed Sent: Wednesday, May 31, 2017 7:09 PM To: JAWS-Users-List 2 Subject: [JAWS-Users] Making Word 2010 default line spaving to single Hi Everyone. I press the application key in Word 2010 and press P to go to paragraph. Then I change the space to single. But it still does not type in single line spacing. Then I went back into the paragraph dialog box and I then put a 1 in the At box and check the box that said not to space after a paragraph. Then press ok. Then it typed in single line. But then I opened a new document and it was back to double line spacing. I went back into the pargraph dialog box and made all the same changes again and press save as default button. But it did not save it. Anyone have any ideas on what I am doing wrong to get word to stay defaulted to single line spacing?
