Hi Hareth,

I also reported this on the Beta Report Form.
The problem is because in Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, that is version
1709/build 16299 and a few Insiders builds ago, Microsoft gave a new colorful
look to the console windows, that is, Command Prompt and Windows Power Shell.
Until Freedom Scientific adapts JAWS to work with this new console window, you
should configure Windows to use the legacy console. You'll not be able to take
advantages of some convenient features not present in the legacy console as we
could even on Windows 10 Creators Update such as pasting with CTRL+V capability
and hotkeys for some common operations like Find, but the old-style console,
since in 32-bit Windows versions is still compatible with some 16-bit
applications, have not changed at all.
To use the legacy console open Command Prompt, press ALT+SPACE and then the
letter D. In the Options tab, check the Use Legacy Console (Requires Restart)
checkbox and then press ENTER.
As the checkbox says, you have to restart the console to apply this change.
Therefore, type exit on all console windows you have opened to close CMD
completely.
The next time you open a console window, although with some Windows 10 console
advantages lost, you will find that both Command Prompt and Power Shell windows
are again accessible.

Hope it helps and, of course, I hope FS to fix this in a future update.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] J-2018 announcing "text area" instead of reading the
command prompt edit box and feedback

Greetings,
Jaws 2018 beta and final, saying "text area" both with command prompt and power
shell interface, that's with windows10 creators fall edition.
I have to press insert plus B to check the results, and that reads much more
than what I need to hear.
Typing and editing also not spoken.
Any thing I need to know to fix that? Is there something I'm missing?
Or its a known bug.
Help would be much appreciated. I'm using command line a lot, there for its a
problem to deal with the current way jaws 2018 reading it.

Best
