Hello,
It sounds like your computer is trying to do an update and that is why you 
won’t hear JAWS after you either restart or shut it down and then turn it on 
again. Eventually JAWS will speak again but you have to give it a some time 
before it does. To see those notifications dow a windows key plus A and you 
will land in the notifications area where you can tab around to the different 
notifications.
