Try alt f I e as a chain of keystrokes. If that doesn't work, use control s, and save the file as you normally would.

I just opened an existing word document that I want to alter. Jaws says I'm in protected view mode. I can read the document, but I can't write anything. Windows offered to send an error message to Microsoft and I accepted the offer. I guess I'll now reboot the computer and hope the problem is solved. But if not, can someone please explain in detail for this elderly unsavvy tech person, what to do?
