Hello Kurt, I just entered on the link and pressed alt s. then I got a
interduction email then I opened it and pressed alt s again and in a couple
of
minutes I got my email saying I was in the new group and that is all there
was to it.

This is an email address, not a link. I was doing the same thing for
another list. copy and paste it into a new message , put subscribe in the
subject and send.
