Hi Alex, David and all who coached me on this,

the problem is finally solved. I found the status bar option in the view tab
under options in the tools menu; it was unchecked for some reason; once
checked, JAWS started behaving as it should.
Many thanks for everyone's help
Samira

Have you checked in the view menu to see if the status bar is checked?
Cheers
Alex

Hi

Thanks; I tried maximizing the page. Now when I press insert-pagedown on a
word document that I inserted comments in, it reads a line from the comment
pane. In a word documents without comments, the key combination reads a line
from the text, sometimes the last line on the page or the documents. Other
ideas to get it to read the status line? Do you think I should uninstall
then reinstall Jaws?
Thanks,
Samira

Hi, try maximizing the current window with alt space, x. This is in fact
normal behaviour, and may be attributed to the fact that the taskbar is
"always on top", which is the default setting. Hope that helps.
