Rick,

He did have that installed not by me, but from a computer teck who put the laptop online and used some type of program to clean up leftover traces of his old antivirus program on the laptop which was preventing the laptop to go online.
Allen had it on his desktop for a time, but removed it.
However, I poked around in the OE tools/Options and discovered several settings amiss. After correcting them, I am now able to use the control key with the x,c,v as intended. So guess this mystery is solved, until next time and there will always be a next time...grins

Thanks,

Patricia

Hi Patricia,
Have you installed, or re-configured any
type of cleanup software on this computer?

I'd like to comment here being as I'm the one who is trying to perform these tasks and it doesn't work and extremely frustrating..

Basically anything in any program...outlook express, word, web site any occasion where we need to use the copy/cut/paste commands on his computer it does not work. I select something which 9 times out of 10 that doesn't happen with the usual methods...shift or control and shift together, jaws does not say the item is selected. I have to use his application key to perform these actions as well as pasting, copying or cutting. That method works, but it's cumbersome and takes more steps to do something or the same thing on my computer or the laptop with the control hot keys..

As far as his files/folders in the list view. I have changed all of that several times matching my computer through the control panel/files and folders, the view tab page all of his is set exactly to mine and my computer functions like it's suppose to in regards to this area of folders in list view. His computer regardless of the changes made, I always have to press Alt V arrow down to list and enter to get all the items in a folder to show up and everytime that tiles is checked. It seems his setting just won't stay changed..

Allen,

Troubleshooting this condition might be easier if we knew what software you are using when this problem occurs and what is it that you are attempting to
cut/copy and paste.
