Under verbosity, turn off footnotes and endnotes. That should do it.

I am working with a document that was created by someone else and I'm
finding it frustrating to listen to all of the footnotes in the middle of
the text as I reach the bottom of the page where the footnote appears. Is
there a way to prevent JAWS from reading the footnotes as I'm navigating
through the document with the up and down arrows. Is there something I can
change in JAWS or in MS-Word?
