Hello,

I would suggest that you set the Adobe Reader to be used when you use a link in Internet Explorer to open a PDF file. To do this, open your Adobe reader and use CTRL-K to bring up the preferences. In the list of categories use down arrow or press the letter I until you get to "internet." Use tab key to move to the "use PDF in browser" choice and if it is checked then remove the checkmark by using spacebar. If it is not checked then press the escape key. Use tab key and check to see if there is an apply button and if so press spacebar on it. After pressing spacebar on the apply button, (or if there is not an apply button) then use tab key to move to the OK button and press spacebar.

With the above change, the Adobe Reader should be used when you press enter on a PDF link while using your browser.

If you don't want to do the above then you can also download the PDF file to your downloads folder and open the file from there. Use a right mouse button click simulation. When I downloaded the recipe file that you mentioned, the application key did not produce the correct context menu. I had to use a right mouse click on the file and then used down arrow to the "save target as" choice. The right mouse click is done by using the asterisk or star on the number pad (the third key from the left on the top row of the number pad). If you are using a laptop and the laptop keyboard configuration then the right mouse button is done by using the caps lock key with the number 9. Your PDF file that you save should be associated with Adobe Reader so when you press enter on the saved downloaded file the Adobe Reader should open.

Take care.

Brian Lee

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Blind web site that doesn't quite work?

Hi, I have 10.0 and XP home.
I was given the below web site to up load and I am having problems with this task.
When I hit the link, the PDF doesn't seem to complete its function.
Also, when I try to alt. left arrow back to the main page nothing happens.
I then have to alt. F4 and this knocks me out of I E.
Any thoughts would be helpful.
Here is the web info.

Chef Jeff Moschetti puts the final touches on his Saffron Tamale With Spanish Braised Pork Shank. That's because its creator, Warwick Melrose executive chef Jeff Moschetti, worked with EyeCare America - a public-service program of the American Academy of Ophthalmology - to identify and modify his favorite recipe that features ingredients that promote eye health.

About 10 million Americans suffer from age-related macular degeneration, the leading cause of vision loss in people 65 and older, says Dr. Dwain Gordon Fuller, an ophthalmologist and retinal specialist in private practice at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas.

Although there's no cure, Dr. Fuller says there are natural, as well as medical, ways to slow its progress. Recent ongoing studies suggest that certain antioxidants, such as omega-3 fatty acids and vitamins and minerals, can play an important role in eye health. That's why EyeCare America has teamed up with several chefs across the country to make their eye-healthy recipes available at www.eyecareamerica.org.
