last but not least use common sense.
do not open lonks on sites that pop up claiming that they can search your pc for attackers. those are phishing sites that will install trojans. instead to do online scanning use kaspersy, pcillin and the like. those are the legit sites to use. be aware of the sites you surfe into, be on the lookout if your pc behaves strangely after a visit.
watch what mails you open, check attachments BEFORE you open them!
