Once you've created the tabs, open the Tools menu and choose Options.
The first few controls on the Main tab are about the home page; there is
a "use current pages" button you can press to save them. Note that this
won't just save the tabs, but the one with focus when you press the
button will be the one that has focus when you next start Firefox.

I'm road testing version 3 just for fun and although I see how to create
a secondary tab it's not quite clear to me how to make it stick from
session to session. Right off the file menu it states create a new tab
and the hot key is control+T so that's easy enough.
