Why not create new folders under Local Folders (which is at the top level), so that your own folders will be at the same level as Inbox, drafts, etc. Outlook Express likes this better, too. (If your Inbox or your drafts folder gets corrupted for some reason, and you have folders under it, they will be corrupted too.) So, when you're creating a new folder, with your current folder highlighted press left-arrow. You should then hear, "local folders opened". Proceed.
