My comment is that you got a virus because AVG free only offer *basic* virus protection. Note the basic there. With AVG Internet Security you have complete virus/spyware/rootkit protection. So to me you should give it another try (a 30 day free trial is available). Up to you of course, but with AVG Free you only get basic protection and I'm not sure if people actually realize that.
