If you are saying that the current external num pad stopped working,
sometimes devices break. If you are saying that your friend just tried a
external num pad and it does not work, this is a different issue. I have
found that when looking for an external num pad to work with a laptop using
JAWS, you just have to do trial and error until you find one that works with
your system configuration. However, I have had continued success with using
the rubber Flexi full-sized 101 keyboards and my laptops. They are light
weight and easy to carry with you. The down side is that you need a flat
surface to work from. I've been known to carry with me a piece of poster
board the size of the keyboard.

HTH,
Annette
