Hi,
Windows 7 sounds nice, except that I have no sma's and won't be able to
afford the next version of jwas that would have to come out in order to make
win7 work with the screen reader. Also, there is the fact that now I don't
have a computer cause my laptop isn't working right and so I am using my
internship computer to emial but can't really do much else on it as far as
like with my ipod and other stuff because I am only supposed to use it for
when I get my internship.
Thanks for the advice.

Hi Sarah,
Perhaps you might want to wait a few days. I have heard that Best Buy and
probably others will be offering a free Windows 7 upgrade with a purchase
of
a new computer, starting June 26. I have also heard a pre-announcement
that
upgrades for others using Vista Home Premium will be available for
preorder
for only $50!
This also might be the upgrade price for an upgrade from XP to Windows 7,
since Microsoft would like to get individuals and corporations who have
stayed clear of Vista and over forward! Vista is bloated and was not
ready
when it was first released. That gave it a bad reputation. It has gotten
much better and I like it better than
XP now. However, Vista still requires more hardware than it should! It
sounds like Windows solves a;all these problems without causing any
compatibility issues. This is historic! It is the first time that
Microsoft has ever announced a new operating system that is smaller and
requires less hardware than the previous version! It sounds great and I
plan on updating.

Wow! See, those are the kidns of stories I have heard about. I had a
sighted person tell me that vista crashed all the time on him. When doesn
windows7 come out?
That is what I am scaredc about. I mean I like xp and haven't had any
problems, and I agree that you have to move with the technology, but I
don't want to have a computer that I can't even use that I have spent a
bunch of money on, but at the same time, do 't have the extra $200 to pay
for the transition option to get an xp computer. Windows Vista computers
are now cheaper then xp ones.

I have had Vista since last August and twice now it has gone down with a
corrupt operating system failure. Unfortunately that wipes Jaws too and
although there is a recovery feature available on the Lenovo computers
you
need to access it through the BIOS which doesn't talk even when an
operating
system isn't corrupt.
I had the option at the time of XP Pro which I didn't choose it just
seems
wrong not to move with the evolving technology. Apparently Windows 7
will
be
a much lighter and more efficient operating system. Go figure, an
operating
system which doesn't consume the bulk of the resources of your computer.

hmmm, vista isn't the bear people let it to be, i have a vist home
basic
dell laptop inspiron 1525 and haven't had any trouble at all, it just
takes a bit to get used to the differences in the operating system, but
everything works just fine.

Hi,
I have a question. My laptop recently broke, and I am trying to get a
new
one. I have relized that most stuf is going towards windows vista, but
I
have heard horror stories about jaws and windows vista. I have also
heard
some bad stuff from a few sighted people about windows vista. However,
to
get a laptop with xp on it as people have been sugesting to me costs
like
$200 more then just purchasing a laptop with windows vista.
I know one person who has vista, and has had nothing but problems and
claims tha he can't even use his laptop because Vista is so bad. I have
jaws 10.0.512U and am not sure if that even works with vista. When I
got
my jaws I didn't get an extra vista c.d. with it that they talk about
in
the fs cast so I don't even know if I am upgraded to use vista.
I am very familear with xp, and am not just one of those go and check
my
email people. I am on the computer all the time and am constantly doing
stuff such as browsing the web, syncing to my phone, putting stuff on
my
ipod, etc.
Does anybody know anything about Windows Vista, and do you know if it
is
still better to get xp? My mom said that it has to work because fs says
it
does on there website, and she said that noone uses xp anymore and that
it
is outdated and that xp is old and that's why it costs more if you want
xp
on your computer instead of vista.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
