Well I can confirm that Windows 7 so far is very polished compared to Vista. Runs fast just like XP, but looks and behaves like Vista, with a few enhancements and new features here and there, my favourites being the ability to "pin" applications to the taskbar and jump lists, a feature whereby when you right click on an application in the taskbar, you can, for example, view recently visited web pages, recently opened files, change your MSN status, etc. Hope this helps.

Hi Sarah,

It seems to be largely a matter of personal preference. Almost as much as
the PC versus Mac argument.

Personally, I have been very happy with Vista ever since SP1. There are a
lot of little enhancements that make things easier once you get adjusted.
The selling point for me are the vast improvements in networking. It is
more advanced and yet simpler to set up and use. It also has Media Server
capabilities that XP does not provide. Inn fact, Vista Home Basic may not
have this feature either. I like Vista Home Premium SP2, but Windows 7
addresses all of my annoyances. The bloated size and excessive required
resources have been my biggest complaints. Actually, excessive is mot the
right word, I am just excited that supposedly Windows 7 does more with less.
It is a "polished Vista".

Hi,

I know it wasn't you who had it, I just said someone on the list had that
laptop.

Yes, that would seem like a lot for XP. I tend to have more then one
application open at the same time too. so is Vista premium better?

Thanks for all the help.

Sarah

Hi Sarah,

I was not the one that said he was using a Dell 1525 before. But I am very

happy with my Dell Inspirion 1525 laptop, running Vista Home Premium. It

has 2 GB RAM. In XP, 2 GB would seem like a lot of memory. In Vista,

however, I would not want anything less. I tend to have several

applications open at any time, so I am probable not the norm.

See, and the computer I am looking at has to have the proper ram, cause the

vista already comes installed on the laptop. I told my mom one of the people

writing on here had the dell Inspiron 1525 and I thought she said that was

the one I was looking at. I would assume that it would have proper ram and

memory or they wouldn't be able to sell it.

Those are mostly from those that,

1. Don't get enough ram to do the job.

2. vista ain't xp, but can be customized very well.

3. they don't take the time to learn vista, because again, its not xp.

Got home premium with a 2.8 gig quad cpu, 4 gig

of ram, and haven't had any of the problems most complain about.

Thanks, everybody for your help.

So why do I hear all this bad stuff then if

Vista is fine. I have heard stories that vista

crashes all the time, and that you are always

getting errors and that Vista was like the worst

opperating system and they never should have

switched from xp. I am just really nervous

because if it isn't working properly when I buy

the new computer then I am not able to do

anythign about it and am stuck with what I have.

How come my friend has so many problems with his

laptop? If you are pretty computer tech as far

as how to run things, then will vista be easy to figure out?

If I do a check for updates under jaws, how will

it give me the latest build if I don't have any sma's or like upgrades

things.

Thanks,

Sarah

Hi

I am running vista home addition on my HP

laptop and JAWS 10. I love vista. It took a

little adjusting to figure out how to find

what I want compared to XP but over all I am pleased with the operating

system.

God bless,

Hi,

I have a question. My laptop recently broke,

and I am trying to get a new one. I have

relized that most stuf is going towards windows

vista, but I have heard horror stories about

jaws and windows vista. I have also heard some

bad stuff from a few sighted people about

windows vista. However, to get a laptop with xp

on it as people have been sugesting to me costs

like $200 more then just purchasing a laptop with windows vista.

I know one person who has vista, and has had

nothing but problems and claims tha he can't

even use his laptop because Vista is so bad. I

have jaws 10.0.512U and am not sure if that

even works with vista. When I got my jaws I

didn't get an extra vista c.d. with it that

they talk about in the fs cast so I don't even

know if I am upgraded to use vista.

I am very familear with xp, and am not just one

of those go and check my email people. I am on

the computer all the time and am constantly

doing stuff such as browsing the web, syncing

to my phone, putting stuff on my ipod, etc.

Does anybody know anything about Windows Vista,

and do you know if it is still better to get

xp? My mom said that it has to work because fs

says it does on there website, and she said

that noone uses xp anymore and that it is

outdated and that xp is old and that's why it

costs more if you want xp on your computer instead of vista.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Sarah
