Hello Vicky, I have found problems with a word doc that was a template. A work around could be to copy & paste to a new document of your own - that may be easier to format?
I'd like to hear the outcome.

I have selected the entire document with control A, but it just isn't

You probably know this, but in order to change anything, it has to be
selected.  Even to change a style.
