It was over a year ago now that i copied a few disks and I know I tried both
wmp and winamp at the time to do it.
Interestingly when I look at the albums on my c drive now some are wav and
the other mp4. So perhaps wmp copied in wav and winamp copied in mp4 I may
have missed the option of mp3 when I did it.
It is no real problem as it is only a few disks and I can easily recopy them
with this new information, thanks.
Many thanks
Graham

Graham,
We can take further discussion off-list if you'd like. There are a number
of solutions here.
I was not aware that WMP could rip audio to mp4...need to do some more
research.
BTW: My curriculum vitae: I am an audio producer currently working in
the field. I'll give you the best help I can.
Cheers,
paul

It was a while ago now I am really not sure it was either wmp or winamp.

Out of curiosity, which program did you use to rip/convert the CDs?
Windows Media Player can encode mp3 files, as can WinAmp and several
other applications.

Hi
I did not know this, I have copied a couple of ordinary music cd's on
to my pc and they have the mp4 extension. Did I do something wrong? I
would prefer them to be mp3.

Graham

Victoria, you are correct. Mp4 is a video compression standard.

Would someone explain what MP4 is? Is it perhaps compression for
video?
Thanks, Vicky

HI
So could I convert mp4 to mp3 with goldwave or is there an easier
way?

Goldwave is a sound editing and manipulation program. Among other
things:
* Batch conversion between audio file types
* Record two track stereo or single-track mono
* Add echo, reverberation and other effects
* Filter unwanted noise
* Edit sound files to remove unwanted content
* Could conceivably be used for "mastering," that is, preparing
sound files to be printed to a CD or DVD.
It's pretty much everything an amateur or semi-pro might want for
manipulating sounds. Very agile, very blind-friendly...but not
reallly for the absolute novice. IMHO.

Hi,
What is goldwave and what can be done with it?
